In a time too often defined by ad hoc victories, partisanship and short-term thinking, The Door Stop Awards for Transparency recognize those Members of Congress, top government officials and staff who have created consistent, durable and genuine structural changes to public institutions. These good government successes almost always happen quietly and outside the limelight, but have resulted in long-term transparency, greater openness, improved efficiency and effectiveness. The Door Stop Award winners didn’t just open government to the public once, they placed "door stops" ensuring that government never again closes to the American people.
