Washington, D.C. – Today, the Grant Reporting Efficiency and Agreements Transparency (GREAT) Act (S.1829) was favorably reported out of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. The Senate bill was introduced last Thursday, June 13 and now awaits a vote by the full Senate. Nick Hart, CEO of the Data Coalition issued the following statement on the mark-up hearing:

The Data Coalition is pleased to see the GREAT Act make its way to the full Senate for a vote. This bipartisan bill, championed by Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Mike Enzi, (R-WY), Gary Peters (D-MI), and Maggie Hassan (D-NH), will modernize how nearly $700 billion in federal grant funds are tracked and reported each year. By creating processes to better use data, this legislative proposal will improve transparency for grantmaking agencies and the public while also reducing compliance costs for grantees. We eagerly anticipate a vote from the full Senate.
