Overview

Here’s your opportunity to join a hybrid discussion with members of the U.S. federal government and civil society involved in advancing open data principles, hosted by the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) Open Government Secretariat, the Federal Chief Data Officers (CDO) Council, the Data Foundation (a nonpartisan organization that conducts research, collaborative thought leadership, and advocacy programs to advance practical policies for the creation and use of accessible, trustworthy data), and the Open Gov Hub (a coworking and event space that works to bring together like-minded organizations that are focused on government Transparency, Accountability, and Civic Participation).

This gathering will be both informational and participatory and will include speakers from federal agencies, civil society, and the general public. The goal is to provide attendees with the opportunity to learn and share feedback and ideas on the U.S.’s open data efforts.

Additional Information: 

  • This event will open and on the record, as well as will be recorded. A copy of who attended the event, the agenda, notes taken from the event, and the recording of the event will all be posted to the open.usa.gsa website.  

  • When you register for the event, you may also choose to request to speak for up to 3 minutes on an open data topic of your choosing during the lightning talks session. Please note that due to time constraints, not everyone who signs up may be able to speak during this session. 

  • All participants may submit written public comments that will be added to the public record via email to opengovernmentsecretariat@gsa.gov

  • Materials will be distributed via email to all registrants prior to the event. Please review these beforehand to enable a more productive discussion

  • Please feel free to share this invitation with other interested organizations.

    Due to space constraints, no more than two participants per organization can attend in person. There is no limit on virtual participation and all are welcome.

    • Greetings, introductions, and purpose (2:00-2:15 PM)

    • 5 min of opening remarks from Data Foundation, Open Gov Hub, and GSA

    • Panel Discussion (2:15-3:00 PM)

    • Lighting Talks (3:00-3:30 PM)

      • Members of the public/civil society may sign up to speak for 3 minutes on an open data topic of your choosing.

      • The public can provide written feedback before the event, that will be provided as part of the meeting record.

    • Review Survey Responses (3:30-3:45 PM)

    • Closing (3:45-4:00 PM)

      • 5 min of opening remarks from Civil Society, OGP, and GSA
